Description

This absolutely stunning 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is a symbol of post-war American luxury and automotive excellence. As one of the first models produced by Cadillac after World War II, this vehicle represents a return to grandeur, with its elegant design, powerful engine, and luxurious features. It embodies the optimism and style of the late 1940s, making it a beloved classic car. Manufacturer: Cadillac Production Year: 1947 Model: Series 62 Convertible Body Style: 2-door convertible Engine: 346 cubic inch (5.7 L) L-head V8 engine Power: 150 horsepower Transmission: 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission History: Originally delivered to a Major in the U.S. Air Force, this car spent its early years in Texas and New Mexico. In 1961, its second owner acquired it and brought it to Ohio. That summer, the new owner enjoyed driving the car before deciding to rebuild the engine and transmission. By 1962, the restoration work was underway. Mr. Univick, an instructor at East Tech High School with a passion for cars, rebuilt the engine and enlisted Bill’s Automatic Transmission to overhaul the 4-speed Hydra-Matic. The rebuild was completed that same year when the car had just 60,000 miles. Since then, it has accumulated only about 2,000 additional miles. While minor tasks were completed over the years, the car mostly remained in storage. Fast-forward to 1977, when the car caught the eye of its current and third owner. Working next door to the building where the Cadillac was stored, he befriended Mr. Univick's son. Over time, their friendship deepened, and by 1999, as Mr. Univick’s health declined, he decided to sell the car to his son’s friend. Twenty-two years after first seeing the car, the new owner finally towed it home and began reviving it from its long slumber. With minimal effort, the car was up and running again, allowing Mr. Univick one final ride in his beloved Cadillac before he passed, after nearly 40 years of ownership. The current owner, Mark, an experienced bodywork and repair instructor, knew the car’s potential. Free of rust, filler, and exceptionally straight, it was a solid foundation for restoration. However, life took precedence, and progress stalled until his retirement during the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2023, the body restoration was completed to showroom quality. Every non-painted chassis nut and bolt was removed, cleaned, and polished, restoring the car to a factory-fresh appearance with all its original hardware. The bodywork is impeccable, featuring flawless paint, a new convertible top, and replated chrome. Few, if any, cars on the market today can rival the perfection of this masterpiece. Model and Vehicle Details: This extensively restored 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is characterized by its bold and stately design, featuring rounded fenders, a wide front grille, and elegant flawless chrome accents. The car’s large, sweeping curves and long hood give it a commanding presence on the road, while its convertible top adds an element of open-air luxury. The interior of this Series 62 Convertible is luxurious, featuring high-quality red leather upholstery, a full dashboard with chrome accents, and ample seating for up to five passengers. The new convertible top is power-operated, and the car comes equipped with advanced features for the era, such as a push-button radio and heater. While Cadillac produced a fair number of Series 62 Convertibles in 1947, the car remains rare today, especially in fully restored condition such as this. Its status as a post-war luxury vehicle adds to its desirability among collectors. The 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is highly sought after by classic car enthusiasts for its combination of style, luxury, and historical significance. Restored examples are particularly valuable, with the car being a regular feature at classic car shows and auctions. The 346 cubic inch V8 engine provides 150 horsepowe
